Spring has finally sprung in the midcoast!
Wednesday morning, while in Camden I ventured outside for a quick stroll down Main St. to French and Braun Market for a chocolate croissant. (If you find yourself in Camden, craving a chocolate croissant, I highly recommend you pick up one from French and Braun!) Feeling inspired by the brilliant sunshine peaking through the curtains of my friends apartment, I took off for the market in flip flops and a sweater. I assumed I had no more need for my winter coat and opted to leave it behind. The sun was warm on my cheek but the wind was almost too much for my naked toes to bare!
This kind of situation is common in Maine in the springtime. From the coziness of one's apartment, the outside Maine scenery may appear inviting and warm, but it might just be a belated April Fool's Day prank!
This morning, as I peaked out the window of my own apartment, I was thinking of ways to prepare myself for the chill that might be waiting for me just outside the front door. For a five minute walk for a chocolate croissant there is room for mistake. For a longer trip, one must be ready for what the unpredictable Maine weather might have in store for them. I layered up, only to find myself shedding layers all day! It appears as if Spring has finally sprung in Maine!!
Maybe we're not quite in the clear yet, but lets enjoy the sunshine for now, shall we!
Of course, it's a good idea to cover your toes until the summer and keep your winter coat by the door, just in case!
