My Buddha Belly

I am really starting to love my belly....
I think it is cute.
And feminine.
And it's mine!

I don't know why women hate their tummies so much.

I saw a women the other day in Union Square....with a belly like mine. She was wearing a tight shirt. Her muffin tops poked out a bit between her shirt and her jeans. She was beautiful. And she didn't seem to care about her belly.

This is a photo shoot idea i want to explore more....the things that women love and hate about their bodies and why.

Of course, I barely have the time to breathe right now so taking on another project is probably a bad idea.....but we'll see!

Me and the Creep

I love my vintage Trek.
When I go for rides on the island there is a particular place I like to stop and take a break. It's a grassy spot in between a seafood restaurant and a bus stop, near Snug. I like this spot mostly because of the daffodils. And because it's under two shady trees.
What i don't like about this spot is that I am always bothered by some creep trying to "holla" at me! I done told you before and I'll tell you again...I ain't no Holla Back Girl!
Sometimes I just want to relax in the shade with my sweet ass bike and a canteen full of water and not be bothered!

So the last time this happened, here's how it went down.....

(Me-just chillin' in the grass with my Trek.)

( I see some creepy dudes crossing the street...." I hope these weirdos are NOT coming over here to talk to me!" )

Creep: "HEY! (One of the guys runs over to me!) Hey, are you....okay? "

Me: "Yeah, I'm fine."

Creep: "I thought maybe you were injured or something....So you're okay? I could help you if you need help...."

Me: No, I'm fine. Just trying to relax. "

(Creepy guy lingers.....)

Me: "What?"

Creep: "I uh....uh....just.....(turns to walk away) you're very pretty!"

Me: "Urgh.....thanks."

("Keep walking, Creep...")

Random thoughts on April 1st.....the day of the fool.

If I ever have a son I think I will name him Henry because it is a sweet name. And I will raise him to be a gentleman. This reminds me of a Liz Phair song.....

And upon searching for this video I noticed that Liz directed some of her music videos and her album covers and booklets have a lot of self-portraits which I find very cool!
Too bad she sold out..... :-(

I have has some really cool ideas for some projects but I have been lazy lately. School is stressing me out and I am falling behind in my work. Feel like a sinking ship. If I sink though maybe I'll find some treasure at the bottom of my own scary ocean?? ha!

The Staten Island Ferry

I have relocated (again!) to Staten Island until the end of the semester. Everyday I take the ferry back and forth from Manhattan. I see some interesting things and have started taking some photos. I think this is the project I am going to use for my Doc Photo class this semester.

WARNING! If you are my parents you might want to stay away from this blog!

I am growing as an artist. I am exploring new ideas. And I have taken some images as of late that may seem a bit "racy"....I would like to post some of these images. And of course they are not inappropriate by any means, (just some artsy nudes) but we all remember the final exhibit show at Rockport College 2005, right??
For those of you who don't know the story, in June 2005 I had my final photo show at Rockport College. I invited my parents who invited my grandparents! (oh yay!)...the short version of this story is that my grandparents almost had heart attacks at the sight of my 8x10 boob on the gallery wall!!
So...if you are squeamish, related to me, or are a creep, please DON'T view this blog. If you are related to me and still would like to view this blog, just remember that I am an artist: sometimes I use my body in my work. All artists, musicians, actors, etc. have parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. and sometimes they are gonna see their boob! Ha!

Thanks.

And here are some photos by....

Francesca Woodman ( A huge influence in my artistic work! Always has been! She is amazing! Please view her work at her website and buy her one and only, very rare book, if you can find it!)

And here is a beautiful slide show I found of FW's work:

And upon doing some research for this blog I stumbled across a beautiful website for a photographer named Youngna Park (which you can view HERE!) I am jealous of her website!
I need to work on improving my own website since my career is just about to take off!....Have some great opportunities coming up!! Have an internship this semester and an going to apply for the gallery intern position at Maine Media Workshops (my old stomping ground) for this summer. If I don't get the internship then I'm off to Ireland this summer to start a documentary photo project on Irish pubs.
